Tuesday Week 2
My son had a hard time falling asleep last night and he woke up a little after midnight. It took me an hour or two to fall back asleep. I forced myself to get up at 4:45 and go out. Had to put the rain gear on again--the roads were wet and there was a slight drizzle. I decided that my goal for the week would be to get the scale to say 142 when I wake up instead of 143. I've been plateaued at 143 for a while, so I decided I'd have to cut back on calories. For dinner last night I had chicken, green beans, and parsnips. In the morning before I ride I usually have some fruit or a cliff bar but this morning I did without it, in part because I forgot and in part because someone told me that if you have no glycogen in your muscles in the a.m. your body will burn fat. I got out there and tried to do intervals and I couldn't maintain an interval for longer than 1 minute and a half. I struggled through 3 intervals and then just did some foundation miles. I guess you really can't do intervals without any glycogen. Either that or it was the sleep deprivation or just a bad day or a combination of all three. I have to figure out a way to eat the right amount of calories so that I can lose about 5 lbs but still have the energy to ride.
